AKC Urban CGC and Community CGC Class 

Prepare your canine companion for city living and earn the AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and/or the AKC Community Canine Good Citizen title(s) in this comprehensive 4-session course, testing included!

This course is designed to help dog owners train their pets to navigate urban environments confidently and politely. Over four sessions, you and your dog will learn and practice the skills necessary to pass the AKC Urban CGC and/or the AKC Community CGC test, which demonstrates your dog's ability to behave appropriately in city settings.

• Introduction to urban-specific commands and behaviors
• Practice entering/exiting buildings without pulling
• Walking through crowds on busy sidewalks
• Proper reactions to city distractions (noises, movements, surfaces)
• Crossing streets safely and under control
• Ignoring food on sidewalks
• Interacting politely with strangers in urban settings
• Navigating public buildings (dog-friendly areas)
• Practice transportation-related behaviors
• Mock test run-through

Prerequisites

• Dogs should have basic obedience training
• Completion of the standard CGC course is recommended but not required

Requirements

• Well-fitting buckle or slip collar, martingale, or body harness
• 4-6 foot leather or fabric leash (no retractable leashes) and a longer leash
• Both you and your dog must be able to climb steps
• We will be driving to multiple indoor & outdoor locations in the Wadsworth area
